Residency at Milvus Artistic Research Center in May 2023
Work in progress text:
Drama is the final part of a trilogy of works on loss that began in 2018. The performance Drama takes place in a tragicomic
sphere, where comedy and grief accompany each other. The piece uses humor as a way to address hopelessness. The
work moves between different forms of drama without imposing a clear narrative or a definitive plot. Drama
navigates between concrete references and fragile, abstract forms. While the work does not seek a resolution, it sets
a stage, invites an audience, and proposes a dance with humor, uncertainty, and a sense of communal solitude.
This research initiated the construction of the elaborate costumes designed in close collaboration with designer
Lærke Valum. Their aesthetic and form holds both the sorrowful disasters of grief and the humorous, tragicomic
edges of it.
